Information Day – « European Project Management »

As part of the capacity-building and strategic outreach efforts of the NGS-4-ECOPROD project, an Information Day titled « European Project Management » was organized on December 5, 2025, at the Centre of Biotechnology of Sfax (CBS).
The event was facilitated by Dr. Ahmed Mallel, representative of EURAXESS Africa, who shared valuable insights into the principles, practices, and success strategies for managing European-funded research and innovation projects.
Objectives of the Session
- To introduce the fundamental concepts of European project design and management, including Horizon Europe and other EU funding mechanisms
- To equip researchers and administrative staff with practical tools for managing international collaborative projects
- To foster a culture of strategic planning, compliance with EU standards, and effective communication and reporting within R&I projects
- To encourage Tunisian participation in European research networks and promote stronger international collaboration
Topics Covered
The session offered a comprehensive overview of the project lifecycle in the European framework, covering:
- Project proposal writing and calls identification
- Consortium building and partner roles
- Budgeting, financial management, and cost eligibility
- Work Package structuring and deliverables tracking
- Ethics, gender, and impact considerations
- Reporting obligations and audit readiness
Dr. Mallel also presented the role and services of EURAXESS Africa, particularly in supporting researcher mobility, fostering Africa–Europe scientific cooperation, and bridging capacity gaps in project participation and management.
